A Tortured Heart

“Marching to the beat of an African drum.”

Title for a new BOOK, I’m currently writing after a visit to South Africa, a happy sad land of such vivid contrasts.

Following on from A Traitor’s Heart

“It might be hard for you to understand this being an outsider; but South Africa holds the souls of its sons a nd daughters in an almost inescapable grasp… Once you have travelled, the voyage never ends, but is played out .”

from https://craigsbooks.wordpress.com/category/craigs-books-on-south-africa/

Themes (to name a few) of perseverance, sacrifices, loyalty, redemption,  and most importantly, the enduring power of love

Some thoughts to develop in my new BOOK

Chapter One

Ah, but your land is so so beautiful

(with thanks to Alan Paton)

“In order to live here, must be prepared to die here.”

Final Chapter: The Other Side of the Rainbow

Now many years later as an “older man”, I still love the country with a great passion and could perhaps  live here, but  in my personal circumstances (rather unique) how could  I ever  survive (financially) here?

You don’t have to be crazy to live here, but it certainly helps!

“You want to be the pebble in the  pond that creates the ripples for change.”

The world is broken, but it will be healed. In the end good will prevail.

“The one God of many names will prevail”.”

A NEW DAWN, new hope in beautiful and tranquil “little” New Zealand

I came across this fine bit of writing, which I could closely relate to in those dark days in -. Diana’s words describe my feelings better than I could myself… so here they are…

“People speak glibly about life changing moments. Some truly qualify. You propose marriage and are accepted. You hear, ‘You’re hired’ or ‘You’re fired’ and your future shifts instantly. The doctor says ‘malignant’ (or something else life-changing) and everything is different. But anyone who has ever lived through it will tell you: It is profoundly shattering to learn, in one instant, that everything you thought was true about a loved one (my words: or perhaps your own life) is actually a lie. (Your entire world is turned upside down – what you thought about yourself, and what gave meaning to your life). The world rocks on its axis; when it is finally steady again, you are in a strange place that resembles, but is totally unlike the place you were in just a moment earlier.”
– fine and perceptive writing by Diana B Henriques from ‘Wizard of Lies; Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust’

And that’s exactly as I felt*, as I tried to absorb the words of the …

“Here was a light behind the despair, beyond the darkness. At first a flicker of an ember, just a tiny pin-prick of dawning possibilities. Then burning slowly, brightly and bigger, a glimmer, a candle in the blackness of despair, which gave off just enough of a glow (luminescence?) to light a path. And so show the rest of us the way ahead… a path to endless possibilities…from the darkness into the eternal light.”
