As the sun rose over Cape Town on Tuesday and a new era dawned, people began streaming in their thousands to the Grand Parade.
They waited for hours in the sun to hear South Africa’s first democratically elected President, Mr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, speak.
As the parade filled up, people moved onto the station roof, on top of bus shelters, onto the Golden Acre parking lot, some even crowding onto the Standard Bank roof to the Foreshore – nobody wanted to miss the historic address.
A sea of ANC flags, banners and posters floated above the crowd as the people swayed and danced to the saxy sounds of Bail “Manenberg” Coetzee, Robbie Jansen and other…
